Ottawa Valley MPP Billy Denault is taking on a new role at Queen’s Park, with a focus on municipal affairs and housing across Ontario.
The member for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke has been appointed parliamentary assistant to Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Rob Flack, a role Denault says he is eager to take on given his previous experience on Arnprior town council.
In the new position, Denault will work with Flack to understand the priorities of municipal governments across the province. Housing is expected to be one key issue, including the need for more homes for young buyers and families, as well as suitable housing options for Ontario’s seniors.
Denault says those issues are already familiar to him, having discussed municipal priorities with mayors across his riding since his election in 2025.
He also says that he appreciates the confidence placed in him and points to the guidance of Flack and former MPP John Yakabuski as important influences on his work at Queen’s Park.
He says he will continue advocating for the Ottawa Valley while taking on his new responsibilities.
