Renfrew’s O’Brien Theatre is bringing audiences back to the cinema beyond the usual Hollywood blockbusters
The theatre has rolled out the red carpet for their ongoing Film Group, a presentation featuring the best of Canadian and world cinema, according to theatre manager Chris Kyte.
With screenings happening twice per month at $10 each, film buffs have the opportunity to enjoy independent and international offerings ranging from the light-hearted and fun to the emotionally provocative, and some movies that Kyte says tackle big topics that people may not be ready to talk about.
The only repeating theme among the selection is that all have a connection to Canada.
The film group sessions had been a notable part of the O’Brien’s 96-year history, running for over two decades before it was put on hiatus during the pandemic years.
Interested viewers can pick up a hard copy of the film group schedule by dropping into the theatre, or sign up for their mailing list by email.
