Advanced voting is under way and it’s a mad dash to election day. WOW FM reporters reached out to candidates running for seats around the council table in McNab/Braeside, to give them the opportunity to share their platform with you, the voter.
In this article, you will be able to read the platform of Rob Tremblay running for a seat on council in the Township of McNab/Braeside. This is his submission.
Hi! I’m Rob from Braeside. I chose to make roots here, and my father in law’s family has called this place home for generations. I’m 48 years old and grew up in the Village of Navan in Ottawa. My mom, Maggie, was a bookkeeper, and my dad, John, had a small cement business with my brother, John Jr. I spent my summers playing fastball and took up curling in my 20s.
I studied municipal government at the diploma, undergraduate, master’s and PhD levels, and have two designations. This past April, I retired from the City of Ottawa – where I managed Council & Committee Services – to start a small business.
My commitment to you is backed by 25 years of local government experience across Rural Ontario. As a former Chief Administrative Officer and Clerk, I was handed the ball in tough times to deal with big problems. Complacency solves nothing, and ignored problems only multiply. However, I take the opposite approach: I face challenges head-on, working as a team member to deliver solutions.
Working with Council, under the leadership of the Mayor, and guided by community input and staff expertise, my focus will be delivering on the following:
- Keep taxes as low as possible without impacting priorities, and set clear levels of service.
- Fund the Road Plan – inclusive of gravel roads and sidewalks – while addressing roadside mowing, ditching, and signage.
- Act on safety by addressing speeding smartly with more enforcement, while continuing to strongly support our firefighters and emergency preparedness.
- Ensure full use of our facilities with strong programming and get back to talking with Arnprior about recreation.
- Explain decisions, stay responsive, act with integrity, and welcome feedback. I will support community involvement through advisory committees and task forces.
Thank you for your consideration. Cheers, Rob.
