Advanced voting is under way and it’s a mad dash to election day. WOW FM reporters reached out to candidates running for seats around the council table in McNab/Braeside, to give them the opportunity to share their platform with you, the voter.
In this article, you will be able to read the platform of Darrell Carson running for a seat on council in the Township of McNab/Braeside. This is his submission.
My name is Darrell Carson, and I am running for Councillor in the Township of McNab/Braeside. My family and I have called this community home for more than 11 years and it is the people who make it a great place to live. By volunteering at community events, supporting local organizations and initiatives, and as well as serving on township committees, I have met many residents, deepened my understanding of their needs, and strengthened my commitment to public service.
My campaign focuses on four priorities: infrastructure, communication, public safety, and community.
Strong infrastructure is essential to our quality of life. We must continue maintaining our roads, public buildings, parks, and beaches. These are assets that residents rely on. We need to find practical ways to make better use of what we already have and using these assets more effectively.
Communication must also improve. Too many residents miss important information about township programs, events, and decisions, and not everyone uses technology in the same way. Sharing information through multiple accessible channels will build trust, increase engagement, and help residents feel informed and included.
Public safety is another priority. Residents have consistently raised concerns about speeding, pedestrian safety, school bus zones, and unsafe road conditions. Everyone deserves to feel safe, and I support practical measures—including improved signage, stronger traffic-calming strategies, and continued collaboration with community partners—to address these concerns.
As your councillor, I will be honest about the difficult decisions ahead as costs rise. Rather than make promises I cannot keep, I will promise to listen, work respectfully with others, act transparently, and keep residents at the centre of every decision. I encourage you to share your ideas and concerns because strong communities are built by people who show up, listen, and act.
YOUR community!
YOUR voice!
MY commitment!
