Advanced voting is under way and it’s a mad dash to election day. WOW FM reporters reached out to candidates running for seats around the council table in Greater Madawaska, to give them the opportunity to share their platform with you, the voter.
In this article, you will be able to read the platform of Chris Adams running for a seat on council in the Township of Greater Madawaska. This is his submission.
Chris Adams. Candidate for ward 1 Greater Madawaska
I’m running for Ward 1 Councillor because I believe residents deserve a strong, approachable voice at the council table—someone who listens, asks questions, and works with others to find practical, common-sense solutions.
My approach is simple:
KEEP WHAT WORKS.
IMPROVE WHAT DOESN’T.
PLAN FOR WHAT’S NEXT.
I believe in steady, responsible progress. I’m not running to promise sweeping changes or to suggest that everything being done today is wrong. I want to build on what’s working, address what needs improvement, and make sensible decisions about our future.
Responsible growth is important to our community. We need more housing opportunities for families and year-round residents, not just cottages and retirement living. We should also encourage responsible commercial growth that creates local opportunities and strengthens our economy. Growth needs to be planned carefully so our infrastructure and services can keep pace while preserving what makes this area a great place to live.
Roads and communication are also priorities. Residents need timely, reliable information about road maintenance, construction, and closures that affect their daily lives. While Highways 508 and 511 fall under county responsibility, I believe our Mayor and Council must continue to advocate for our residents and maintain a strong working relationship with the County.
Fiscal responsibility means recognizing that costs, from diesel for snow removal to maintaining our infrastructure, continue to rise. I won’t make unrealistic promises about keeping taxes unchanged. Instead, I believe we need to look carefully at how money is spent, find efficiencies where possible, and make sure taxpayers understand where their money goes.
Finally, I believe residents deserve transparency, meaningful communication, and an equal opportunity to be heard, whether they live in the village or in areas like Hurds Lake, Springtown,Ferguson Lake and Barrett Chute. Good decisions come from listening to the people affected by them.
My background as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, managing maintenance departments, and operating a business for 12 years has taught me the importance of accountability, planning, and listening to different perspectives.
I’m running to bring that practical approach to Council and work collaboratively for the benefit of Ward 1 and all of Greater Madawaska.
