Advanced voting is under way and it’s a mad dash to election day. WOW FM reporters reached out to candidates running for seats around the council table in McNab/Braeside, to give them the opportunity to share their platform with you, the voter.
In this article, you will be able to read the platform of Brandon Potter running for a seat on council in the Township of McNab/Braeside. This is his submission.
Brandon Potter, Councillor Candidate for McNab/Braeside
McNab-Braeside deserves a Councillor who understands our community, thinks critically about the decisions we make, and is willing to work with others to get things done.
At 30 years old, I bring a fresh perspective, enthusiasm, and a sensible outlook to municipal government. Having grown up in White Lake and now calling Braeside home, I have deep roots in this community and a personal stake in its future. I’m not just thinking about the next 4 years. I’m thinking about the next 40.
As a small business owner with a background in marketing, communications, and healthcare, I understand the importance of planning, managing resources, communicating clearly, and finding practical solutions to complex challenges. Running a business means balancing competing priorities, working within budgets, making informed decisions, and going the extra mile. These are skills I know would serve our township well.
I’m also someone who takes the time to do my homework. I believe important decisions deserve careful research, thoughtful questions, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. I’m not going to pretend to have every answer, but I’ll put in the work to understand the issues and make informed decisions.
Just as importantly, I believe effective leadership requires collaboration. Municipal government works best when people with different experiences and viewpoints can sit at the same table, have honest conversations, challenge ideas respectfully, and work toward common goals. I am prepared to work constructively with my fellow Councillors, township staff, neighbouring municipalities, and residents to find solutions that benefit our community.
My priorities are straightforward: responsible taxation and spending, protecting our agricultural land and rural way of life, supporting local businesses, improving recreation opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and pursuing practical, responsible growth.
I’m running because I care about where McNab-Braeside is headed, and I want to help shape a future that serves residents of all ages.
I’d be honoured to earn your vote and the opportunity to serve as one of your three Councillors.
