Advanced voting is under way and it’s a mad dash to election day. WOW FM reporters reached out to candidates running for seats around the council table in Arnprior, to give them the opportunity to share their platform with you, the voter.
In this article, you will be able to read the platform of Lynn Cloutier running for a seat on council in the Town of Arnprior. This is her submission.
I am a lifelong Arnprior resident, a member of Council for 16 years, and a dedicated advocate for our community. I am proud to represent our town, bringing experience, strong ethical principles, and a hardworking commitment to making Arnprior a great place to live.
My Priorities
Health Care Must Be a Priority
As Arnprior continues to grow, so does the demand for essential services. I believe our municipality must be a strong partner in ensuring residents have access to doctors, hospital services, and quality health care. This year, funding requests from Physician Recruitment and Arnprior Regional Health did not receive the level of municipal support I believe they deserved. While growth requires investment in fire services, recreation, and community facilities, health care deserves that same priority. I will continue advocating for stronger municipal support for physician recruitment and our hospital, because a healthy community is a sustainable community.
Affordable and Attainable Housing
With rapid growth, rising inflation, and the increasing cost of living, housing affordability is a growing concern. We must work with provincial and federal governments, developers, and community partners to access grants and subsidies, reduce unnecessary red tape, and create housing options for people at all income levels.
Responsible Spending and Tax Controls
I support sound financial management, responsible spending, and a continued commitment to capital renewal. I will uphold the “pay-as-you-go” principles and spending controls established over the past several years, while working to keep property tax increases to a minimum.
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going!
As your Councillor, I am always open to your ideas, suggestions, and concerns. Your voice matters, and I welcome the opportunity to listen and work together for Arnprior’s future.
Respectfully, I ask for your continued support.
Lynn Cloutier (formerly Grinstead)
