Advanced voting is under way and it’s a mad dash to election day. WOW FM reporters reached out to candidates running for seats around the council table in Arnprior, to give them the opportunity to share their platform with you, the voter.
In this article, you will be able to read the platform of Bob Cunnington running for a seat on council in the Town of Arnprior. This is his submission.
Hi, my name is Bob Cunnington and I am running for town council. I’m running because I feel that I would make a positive difference in our community and be a strong voice for our residents. I truly care about our town and want to help to make sure that all residents concerns get heard and truly considered when decisions are being made. I believe in working with our residents and listening to the residents so everyone in town can be proud to call Arnprior home.
I’ve chosen to run for councilor because i feel that this is the best path for me to make this town the best that it can be. I’m hoping to be able to get sidewalks installed on Baskin, and to find solutions on how we can snow clear our sidewalks in Arnprior. I’ve heard from a lot of residents that this is a high safety concern that needs to be addressed before someone is injured. Along with this I’m hoping to bring a new grocery store to the east end of Arnprior.
Other things that have been brought up to me over the past weeks, is how can we bring in or attract industry. Weather its a tax break or reduced development fees, to get them to look at Arnprior for a potential location. And finally tourism. What can Arnprior do to bring in more tourists to help support our fantastic businesses here in town.
In closing, I know I’m only 1 vote to try to make these changes happen, but I truly believe that with the right people elected, I know that this can be successful. This town is growing rapidly and we need to take care of it , the best we can. I love Arnprior and I know the residents do to. Let’s make this beautiful town grow together.
Change is coming.
Election day is October 26th and advanced voting is now open. If you’ve received your voter information letter, you can submit your vote now. If you haven’t or need assistance voting, a Voter Assistance Centre has been opened town hall to help with any issues.
