For the first time in more than two decades, there will be a Walk for Dementia in Renfrew County.
The CEO of the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County Monique Doolittle-Romas says their clients asked them to bring the walk to where they live, and Arnprior was chosen to host the event, to be held this Saturday (October 17) from 10 a.m. to noon.
The community is invited to join local families, caregivers and people living with dementia on the one kilometre route from the Arnprior Marina to Robert Simpson Park and back again.
The event is free to attend but donations are being taken to support local programs and services for families impacted by dementia.
