Operation Snow Suit has launched with a goal of making sure all kids in Renfrew County are warm this winter, regardless of their family’s income status.
Chair Terri-Lynn Sukkel says parents in Renfrew County who are financially struggling are invited to apply online for their child to receive a new or gently used snowsuit this winter.
Parents and children can also drop in to one of four Big Give Away events to be held across the county.
Sukkel says the advantages of dropping in is that the child will be able to pick out their snowsuit.
She anticipates anywhere from 800 to a thousand Renfrew County kids will be served by the program this year.
Sukkel says they’re also looking for donations.
The locations for the Big Give Away events are as follows:
October 20th – 11am to 7pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Petawawa
October 22nd – 4:30pm to 7:30pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Renfrew
October 24th – 10am to 2pm at West End Mall in Pembroke
October 27th – 12:30pm to 6:30pm at the Killaloe Community Resource Centre.
Sukkel says they couldn’t do this without the support of their community partners
