Helping out with a provincial motorcycle ride for charity is just one way realtors in Ottawa and the Valley support their communities.
The Ontario Realtors Care Foundation’s annual Motorcycle Ride for Charity event, riding across various communities in the province to raise money for a number of different initiatives, passed through the Valley this week with a Wednesday night stop in Calabogie as part of its 860-kilometre route.
Renfrew County Real Estate Board president Nicole Walters says the ride has been a tradition for nearly two decades.
Each participant paid $200 to take part in the ride, alongside any other fundraising they wished to do, with all proceeds going towards the Ontario Realtors Care Foundation, which supports charities all over the province via grants.
Support for the Foundation and its events is just one way local realtors give back, Walters says: the Renfrew County Real Estate Board has several additional fundraising initiatives throughout the year, including a program coming up as the holidays approach.
The Ottawa Real Estate Board, which worked with the Renfrew County team to host the riders Wednesday evening, also works hard to support charities in the region.
OREB president Tami Eades says many of the charities they support have direct ties to realtors that work as board members, which highlights the important work realtors do for the community.
