The Ottawa Valley’s fair season was overwhelmingly successful, including its fundraising efforts, according to Cobden Fair board president Meredith Mulligan.
This year’s fair season saw the Agricultural Societies from Renfrew, Arnprior and Cobden partner together for a fundraising 50/50 draw to help support programming in all three communities. Mulligan says the initiative brought in $18,365, surpassing anyone’s expectations.
That money was split in half, with one portion going towards the three societies while the other went towards the lucky winner, Bryce Doran of the Pembroke area.
Mulligan thanked everyone in the community who supported the fundraising raffle, including M&R Feeds and Farm Supplies who helped out as a sponsor.
According to Mulligan, the 50/50 will be returning next year, and in the meantime, residents can contact their local agricultural society if they’re interested in donating to help support their recreational programming.
