The man accused of firing shots at police near a Belleville synagogue Sunday night has died.
The Special Investigations Unit says 29-year-old Sean Ward died in hospital Monday night.
He was critically injured during an exchange of gunfire with police outside Sons of Jacob Synagogue, as congregants inside prepared to mark Yom Kippur.
The SIU is investigating the circumstances surrounding the police shooting.
The officer who was shot, Constable Jeff Smith, remains in critical but stable condition.
