Our four legged friends just got a new fitness routine.
The Town of Arnprior opened their first off-leash dog park on Friday, August 28th.
The new dog park brings a welcomed space for dogs of all sizes to play, socialize and get some well needed exercise.
With the new park comes some rules the town asks owners to abide by.
Rules for your dog:
- Must be licensed and vaccinated
- Must be a minimum four months old
- No female dogs in heat
- No sick or aggressive dogs
Rules for the handler or owner:
- Dog must be supervised at all times
- You must maintain control of your dog
- Carry a leash at all times
- You can only bring a maximum of two dogs per person at one time
- Clean up after your dog immediately
Expected etiquette for park attendees:
- No aggressive behaviour
- No digging or damage to the park
- No food or glass
- No smoking or vaping
- Children must be supervised and should not run, chase or disturb dogs
The park is a welcomed addition to McLean Park, bringing a space where residents can socialize their pets as well as themselves. Being at McLean Park gives access to public restrooms, water dispensers for dogs, bags and bins for dog waste and convenient parking.
The town would like to remind residents that the use of the park is at your own risk. The town is not responsible for injuries to people or dogs. The park may temporarily be closed due to maintenance or safety.
