Food banks across the Ottawa Valley have officially received a very large check worth a very large amount.
Representatives from local food banks recently joined Warden Jennifer Murphy and the Renfrew County council to collect the proceeds from the 19th Annual Warden’s Golf Tournament, which saw participants and sponsors combine to raise $17,500.
In a statement, Murphy notes that she has seen firsthand the growing demand for food bank services in her community and across the county.
“With food insecurity continuing to grow in our communities, this tournament provides an important opportunity to support food banks across Renfrew County,” Murphy adds. “These funds will go a long way toward helping individuals and families in need throughout our communities. I cannot thank everyone enough for their kindness and commitment.”
Since its inception in 2005, the Warden’s Golf Tournament has raised nearly $96,000 for charities and organizations throughout Renfrew County.
