Canadian Army Reserve personnel from 33 Canadian Brigade Group will conduct transport and supply convoys on roads and highways across Northern, Central and Eastern Ontario on Aug. 20 and 21.
The convoys will travel between Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Peterborough, Kingston, Ottawa, Petawawa and surrounding areas, with military vehicles expected on highways including 7, 17, 26, 41, 55, 115, 401, 403 and 417.
More than 500 soldiers and their equipment will be transported in Department of National Defence vehicles and chartered buses. Crews will make scheduled stops for rest, fuel and maintenance.
The movement is part of Exercise WOLFPACK GUARDIAN, an annual training exercise taking place at Garrison Petawawa from Aug. 21 to 29. The exercise will feature simulated combat operations involving infantry, artillery and signals units.
Officials say soldiers will not carry weapons or ammunition during public stops along the routes. The military is asking motorists to use extra caution around convoy traffic.
