As the cost of food continues to steadily rise, food banks are being relied on more and more.
The Arnprior & District Food Bank is getting ramped up for the fall season. With Thanksgiving and Christmas only a few months away, they’re getting plans in place to make sure everyone has something to eat.
Linda Roberts, Manager of the Arnprior & District Food Bank says the hamper program is just getting started.
Their hamper program is just one way they try to make someone’s holiday season a little more special. Sorting, packing, delivering, there’s lot’s to do to ensure they all get out on time.
Volunteering is one of the many ways someone can help. Whether you’re retired and want to spend your free time helping others or if you’re in high school and looking to get your volunteer hours. Roberts and Volunteer Coordinator Sue Diotte says there’s many opportunities available for all.
Volunteering isn’t the only way someone can help the food bank, donations are also extremely appreciated. They are located in the basement of the St. John Chrysostom Church at 295 Albert St., however construction can hinder access from time to time. There are many sites throughout Arnprior where someone can drop off a non-perishable food item or make a monetary donation.
- Coldwell Banker, 194 Daniel St. S.
- McDougall Insurance, 166 Daniel St. N.
- Metro, 375 Daniel St. S.
- Mark’s NOFRILLS, 39 Winners Circle Dr.
- The Artful Boutique, 136 John St. N.
- RBC, 91 John St. N.
Although they are a “food bank”, they also have a large selection of clothing on site available for those who need it.
