With only days to go before the deadline to register to run in this fall’s municipal elections, some local mayors are running unopposed.
Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry is the only candidate for mayor, and Rickey Minnille is running unopposed for deputy mayor. There is also only one candidate registered to run in each of the Almonte, Pakenham and Ramsay wards.
In neighbouring Carleton Place, there is only one candidate registered to run for mayor and deputy mayor in Carleton Place. Incumbent mayor Toby Randell is seeking re-election, while Andrew Tennant is trying to win the Deputy Mayor position.
As for Arnprior, there are currently two candidates for Mayor, Eric Burton and Bill Griese, but there is only one candidate for Deputy Mayor. Dan Lynch is running unopposed in that category.
Local residents have until 2pm on Friday to put their papers in to run in the October 26th municipal elections.
