The Township of McNab/Braeside has appointed Mandy Cannon as the municipality’s chief administrative officer.
Cannon has worked for the township for more than 11 years, starting as an executive assistant in 2015 before being promoted to deputy clerk in 2024 before stepping in as the interim CAO in September 2025.
In a statement, Mayor Lori Hoddinott says the township has “every confidence in [Cannon’s] professionalism, competence, and integrity, and the respect she has earned from both staff and Council speaks volumes about her leadership.
Hoddinott also credited Cannon for providing leadership while handling what she considers an extraordinary workload over the past year, something she paid special attention to at the council’s August 13 meeting.
Prior to joining the municipality, Cannon worked as a law clerk and executive assistant. She holds diplomas in both municipal management and municipal administration from the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks, and Treasurers of Ontario.
The township says her unanimous appointment provides continuity and stability as they continue to grow as an organization.
Cannon calls becoming McNab/Braeside’s CAO an honour, adding that she is “very optimistic about this next chapter and truly believes the groundwork we are laying today positions our organization for continued success.”
She will also continue to serve as interim clerk while township staff recruit a permanent replacement for the role and will serve as deputy clerk afterwards.
