If you’re still contemplating on running for municipal government, your time is running out.
The deadline to apply to be a candidate in the municipal election this fall is Friday, August 21st by 2 p.m. Then officials will review applications and determine whether or not the candidate will be eligible to run.
Applicants are able to run for mayor, councillor or school board trustee. There are fees applicable for candidates. If you’re applying for the office of mayor, there will be a $200 fee. If you apply for councillor or school board trustee, there will be a $100 fee.
The 2026 Ontario Municipal Elections are set for October 26th.
