An animal rescue servicing Ottawa and the valley has temporarily stopped accepting new arrivals.
Riverview Rescues has volunteers and foster families scattered throughout the area and they have become overwhelmed with the amount of surrendered animals. As fundraising coordinator Michaela McClymont tells us, many of which are due to the increase of people returning to work.
Most of the animals are currently with foster families, although, some situations can’t be avoided which leads to the need of having animals placed in kennels while they await adoption. McClymont says the rescue operates completely on fundraised dollars and through the kindness of volunteers and foster families.
The rescue is asking for support on many fronts, but their main concern is the burnout of their current foster families. If anyone has the ability, the organization is asking to reach out and apply to be a foster family. Other ways someone can support Riverview Rescues is through donations and volunteering. The team at the rescue is extremely dedicated and the community has come out to help in many ways, as McClymont says in her interview.
