As communities across the Ottawa Valley begin their seasonal return to their local rinks, one group is eager to show that there’s more on the ice than just hockey.
The Upper Ottawa Valley Lightning Ringette Association’s League Director Tyson Andress welcomes curious families to check out their free Come Try Ringette event at Renfrew’s myFM Centre coming up on Sunday, August 23, which he says will be a perfect way to introduce kids ages 4 to 12 to a sport that is growing in popularity locally.
Participants will have the opportunity to play and learn with kids their own age, get on-ice instruction with qualified coaches, and find out if the sport is right for them in a safe, welcoming, and commitment-free environment.
Andress adds that families can also stick around following the event to watch scrimmages being held for some of the older youth in their system, take part in an equipment swap, and connect with a community that continues to embrace new members.
All participants must be pre-registered to take part.
