Environment Canada has placed the Renfrew, Arnprior, and Calabogie area under a red tornado warning as they track a severe thunderstorm passing through the region.
At 8:56 pm on Tuesday, June 30, the weather agency noted that they were tracking a severe thunderstorm that they believe was producing a tornado near Burnstown moving southeast at 45 kilometres per hour. Damaging winds, large hail, and intense rainfall are also possible during the storm.
Areas in the path include Burnstown, Glasgow Station and White Lake.
This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Take cover immediately in a basement, interior room, or a sturdy shelter when threatening weather approaches. If no shelter is available, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.
