If you’re stopped by Ottawa Police, it’s quite likely there will be three eyes watching you going forward.
On Monday, the Ottawa Police Service Board approved the next phase of its body-worn camera (BWC) program.
This decision enables OPS to advance a wider rollout of BWCs and associated digital tools following a successful pilot project initiated in late 2025.
An OPS spokesperson says, “Body-worn cameras are already having a positive impact in the community… there is strong belief that these cameras will contribute to increased public trust over time.”
Board approval comes with a five-year contract with Axon for body-worn cameras, supporting hardware, and related digital tools, valued at $27.2 million.
