The Circle of Turtle Lodge is ready to debut a brand new event as part of this weekend’s National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations in the Ottawa Valley.
They will partner with Algonquin College’s Waterfront Campus in Pembroke to host their first annual Algonquin Elders Conference from June 19 to June 21, with the inaugural theme of advancing understanding of Indigenous philosophy and reconciliation in Renfrew County.
Algonquin Elders Patrick Aird and Aimee Bailey and Knowledge Keeper Sherry Dion will share their understandings of traditional teachings and ceremony, as well as their insights as citizens of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation.
Traditional Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations at the Pembroke Marina will follow the conference on Sunday afternoon.
