Some battle go for the duration- and, during World War Two, the Battle of the Atlantic was one of those.
Join the Almonte Legion this Sunday, May 31st at 11AM on the banks of the Mississippi River (beside Almonte Old Town Hall) for a Battle of the Atlantic ceremony.
The ceremony honours sailors, aviators and merchant mariners who defended the North Atlantic in the Second World War and kept the supply lines open to the Allied Nations fighting overseas.
For 81 years, Canadians have remembered their sacrifice and its lasting impact.
This year’s ceremony will include the attendance of Commander John Chance, Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve (Ret’d), a 102-year old Veteran of the Battle of the Atlantic, and one of the last surviving Canadians who served.
Commander Chance will be joining us from Fairview Manor in Almonte.
