It may be that recent changes to Ontario’s Retail Business Holiday Act, amended last month by the Provincial Government to allow most businesses to open on Statutory Holidays may make our What’s Open/What’s Closed schedule obsolete, but that hasn’t happened quite yet!
Monday is officially “Victoria Day” named after the second longest-serving monarch in British History- Victoria Hanover, who presided over the British Empire from 1837-1901.
We all know it as the “May 2-4 Weekend”, even though the Beer Store is one of the few things closed today.
Government Offices, Federal, Provincial and Municipal are all closed and residents whose collection schedule is Monday will see it moved to Wednesday this week.
Banks and Financial Institutions are closed today.
No Frills is open today from 8AM-6PM. Metro is open 9-5. Giant Tiger is closed.
Shoppers Drug Mart is open 8AM-10PM and other pharmacies may be open, or closed.
The LCBO is open today from 10AM-6PM. The Beer Store is closed, but there are suds at the corner store.
Ontario’s rules don’t require licensed cannabis retailers to close on statutory holidays, so most choose to operate 365 days a year.
Oldies 107.7’s Newsroom is on a one-day hiatus, (with the exception of breaking news coverage), but returns with a full broadcast schedule tomorrow. Happy Victoria Day!
