The Victoria Day Long Weekend marks an important anniversary for a staple of Braeside’s dining scene.
Dan Leblanc of Betty’s Chips is thrilled that his family business gets to celebrate 50 years in operation with the community, thriving as a local hub at a time when the village has had to watch other small businesses close.
Dan and his family have taken the reins since buying the business from his mom, Betty, who ran the original chip stand on River Road up until around 2010, and their current location overlooking the Ottawa River on Centre Road has gained notoriety as the finish line for McNab/Braeside’s annual cycling event, the Tour de Poutine.
He says their success comes down to creating a welcoming environment.
