Here’s what’s going on in Arnprior and area over the next 48 hours.
Arnprior:
Today: Whatknots Knitting Circle happens from 10-1130AM in Scharf Hall of the Arnprior Public Library. It’s a
great social gathering of those who love to get creative. Participants bring their current yarn projects share ideas and conversation in a creative environment.
A Therapy Dog Visit occurs between 3-330PM at the Arnprior Library. Every Monday, Maggie and her handler meet with library visitors, especially the after school crowd. Maggie is a delightful Golden Retriever and always loves making new friends. She loves spreading joy throughout the library and will gravitate to cuddles and a treat afterwards. Stop by to meet Maggie as she gains more community hours through the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program.
Monday Moments Yoga takes place in the Main Community Hall of the Arnprior Library from 315-4PM. It’s a
relaxing yoga session with Alexandra Leslie, and all skill levels are welcome. The library supplies yoga mats for this free program. Your library card is required for participation.
Learn English with us is an Adult Program offered from 430-7PM in the Art Corridor, lower level of the Arnprior Public Library. Newcomers are welcome to attend this free drop-in ESL program led by a qualified volunteer tutor. If you have not attended previously, please complete the registration form so that your attendance can be anticipated.
A French Conversation meet-up happens from 545-645PM in Scharf Hall at the Arnprior Public Library. The program is led by volunteers Melanie and Angelique, and all levels of French learners are welcome.
Tomorrow: Arnprior 10 Book Club is the daytime book club for seniors, established as a collaboration between the library and the Seniors Active Living Centre. Members meet monthly on the first Tuesday of the month from September to June. The club is currently at capacity, but if you would like to add your name to the list, please send us an email and we will let you know when a space becomes available. library@arnpriorlibrary.ca
A Scrabble Club Meet-Up happens from Noon-2PM at the Arnprior Library’s Art Corridor in the lower level. This is a day change from the previous Thursday Meet-Up. The library has several game boards and provides a cup of coffee for Adult players.
Take Note: The Arnprior and District Museum invites you to the Fibre Arts Drop In, to occur on Sunday June 14th at 2PM as local Spinner and Weaver Jenny Croft will lead a free, family-friendly public fibre arts drop in. Find out about the Museum’s new loom and spinning equipment that are available for public use.
Mississippi Mills:
Today: A series of Mood Walks is occurring at the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area on Ramsay Lake Road Mondays in May from 10AM to Noon. The guided walking program designed to help you connect with nature, stay active, and meet new people. Today’s outing is A Walk for the Senses. Tomorrow: Tuesday, May 5th is known as Red Dress Day. The Mississippi Mills All My Relations and Ginawaydaganuc Village invite the community to come together in ceremony of remembrance, reflection and action at the Mississippi Mills Public Library, Almonte Branch starting at 2PM. This day will honour the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people, while creating space for learning, dialogue and community connection. The event will be guided by Elder Barbara Brant, Turtle Clan, Mohawk Nation from Tyendinaga. At 2PM, Elder Barbara will open the day with a ceremony. From 3:30-5:30PM, youth are especially encouraged to join a guided roundtable discussion. Organizers thank the Mississippi Mills Public Library and Turtle Lodge Trading Post for their support in bringing this event to the community.
Carleton Place:
Today: The Beyond Curling Social Scene happens from 1130AM-330PM at the Curling Club, 120 Patterson Crescent.
Tomorrow: The Carleton Place Community Lunch takes place from Noon-1PM at Zion Memorial Church, 37 Franklin Street.
Civitan Weekly Bingo is on from 430-9PM at the Carleton Place Arena, 75 Neelin Street.
An Evening Art Lounge at the Library happens from 6=7PM. Bring your art and meet new people.
