Determination and teamwork powered the Ottawa Valley Thunder U11B girl’s hockey team to an impressive bronze medal finish at the OWHA Provincials this past weekend. On the way to the semi-finals, the Thunder beat the North York Storm 7-1, followed by an 8-2 win over the Wilmot Wolverines, and a 3-0 defeat of the North Bay Lakers, finishing a perfect run through the preliminary round. In the quarterfinals, the Ottawa Valley Thunder edged out the Sarnia Sting 2-1. In the semi-finals, the team battled hard but ultimately fell to Walkerton 4-3 in overtime. Undeterred, the girls quickly regrouped and refocused for the bronze medal game against Smiths Falls. The Thunder notched a 4-0 shutout, capturing the bronze medal. This capped off a successful season, in which they also captured the U11B Championship after a 15-player shootout. Congratulations to the Ottawa Valley Thunder U11B girls and their coaches for a successful (45-5-7) season.
