A Flood Watch has been issued for sections of the Ottawa River from Pembroke to Arnprior as rising water levels continue to be observed, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Pembroke District.
Officials say the watch remains in place until April 17 and is being driven by a combination of snow and ice melt, unseasonably warm temperatures and forecast rainfall. Minor flooding may occur in low-lying areas adjacent to the river.
A Flood Outlook is also in effect for inland parts of Renfrew County. While widespread flooding is not anticipated at this time, water levels and flows are increasing and conditions near waterways may become hazardous.
Residents in flood-prone areas are being urged to monitor local conditions closely and exercise caution near rivers, streams and other watercourses.
