Here’s what’s going on in Arnprior and area over the next 48 hours.
Arnprior:
Today: A Community Chess Club meet-up takes place from Noon-5PM in the Art Corridor of the Arnprior Public Library. This is an informal meetup for all ages and skill levels.
A Therapy Dog Visit happens every Wednesday from 3-330PM at the Arnprior Public Library as Clancy and his handler Angela to meet with library visitors. Clancy is a happy Glen of Imaal Terrier. His breed is originally from Ireland. They were farm dogs and used for hunting fox and badger. Stop by to meet Clancy as he gains more community hours through the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program in partnership with the Arnprior Public Library.
LEGO Lounge takes place in the Main Community Hall of the Arnprior Public Library from 345-445PM for children ages 5 and up. This free drop-in program enables children to build with our extensive LEGO collection, and then have their creation placed on display in the library. Snacks are provided. Attending children need to present their Arnprior Library card.
Tomorrow: English Lessons for all levels are now being offered Thursdays from 1030AM-230PM in the Main Community Hall at the Arnprior Public Library. The event, in partnership with the Renfrew County District School Board will be offered until the end of June. Lana Johnston (English as a Second Language Instructor for Adults) will be hosting. There are 30 seats available, and registration is encouraged at the link posted on the Library events calendar.
A Mahjong Meet-up takes place from 1230-330PM each Thursday in the Arnprior Library’s Scharf (Scarf) Hall. Adults who are looking to learn this game are most welcome to join.
A Therapy Dog Visit happens every Thursday, as the Arnprior Library welcomes Cooper and his handler Carrie to meet with library visitors. Cooper is a super friendly Golden Retriever and always loves making new friends. Stop by to meet Cooper as he gains more community hours through the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program.
Dungeons & Dragons happens Thursdays in the Arnprior Library’s Main Community Hall from 300-450PM. This Dungeons & Dragons program is for both experienced players and those new to the game. Take Note: The Arnprior and District Museum Summer Experimentation Station registration is OPEN! The initiative make films, build planets, measures slime, jousts in giant cardboard castles, and breaks pirate codes! The summer camp fosters cooperation and creative problem-solving across History, Art, and Science indoors and outdoors all summer long. Full weekly theme descriptions will be available in May but note that every day runs from 8:30AM-3:30PM June 29th to August 28th (Extended hours 7:45-4:30 available for an additional fee). Mississippi Mills:
Today: Discovery Days happens from 5-7PM at the Mississippi Mills Youth Centre, 134 Main Street East. It’s a free program for ages 10-18, with this week’s them being Comedy Night. Register by emailing programcoordinator@mmyc.ca
Tomorrow: The Almonte Civitan Club Community Luncheon happens from 1130AM-130PM at the Civitan Hall, 500 Almonte Street. On the menu is Chicken Pot Pie, Garden Salad, Dinner rolls, Fruit Crisp and coffee or tea for $24. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.almontecivitan.com/shop or at Baker Bob’s.
The Mississippi Mills Community Open House invites you to come out and discover ways to get involved including sports organizations, festivals, nature groups, local services, community organizations and so much more! Carleton Place:
Today: The free Community Breakfast occurs from 8-10AM at St. James Anglican Church, 225 Edmund Street. All are welcome.
Veterans’ Coffee at the Legion happens from 930AM-11AM at 177 George Street. All Veterans and available active service people are invited to come and enjoy a comfortable atmosphere, conversation and free light refreshments.
Tomorrow: The Junior Growers program is happening from 430-530PM at the Carleton Place Library, 101 Beckwith Street. Junior Growers is a fun, hands-on program where kids ages 7–12 will learn how to start seeds, care for seedlings, and build confidence as new gardeners.
