Provincial police say one person has died following a two-vehicle collision in the Township of Laurentian Valley Monday.
The Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says officers were called Monday at about 11:35 a.m., along with paramedics and local firefighters, to a crash on Paul Martin Drive near Highway 17.
Investigators say a passenger car and an SUV were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.
Police say the driver of the car, a 94-year-old Ottawa man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver, a 32-year-old Laurentian Valley resident, was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
No passengers were reported in either vehicle.
The OPP says the investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. A post-mortem examination is expected, and collision reconstruction and technical investigators are assisting.
