The 2026 Key Tag Campaign from The War Amps is now underway, offering Canadians a simple way to recover lost keys while supporting amputees across the country.
The well-known Key Tag service has been operating for decades and continues to provide a free way for people to protect their keys.
Bob Maguire, a public awareness specialist with The War Amps, also has a personal connection to the organization. Maguire was born without part of his right hand and was enrolled in The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program at the age of four.
In the 1970s, all the war amputee veterans, shifted their focus to start helping child amputees within Canada as well, and that was the start of the CHAMP program.
Now, the Key Tag program is in its 80th year of operation. Each Key Tag has a confidential nine-digit code. Maguire explains if someone finds a lost set of keys its simple.
Few things are more troublesome than losing your keys, and modern car fobs can be very expensive to replace. Maguire stressed that the organization returns lost keys directly to the owner without sharing any personal information
Canadians can request free Key Tags online at waramps.ca or by calling 1-800-250-3030. While the service is free, donations are welcomed and help fund prosthetics, as well as emotional and financial support programs for amputees across Canada.
