With the winter we’ve had, don’t be too impatient for an early Spring.
The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) has issued a flood outlook statement for the Mississippi River watershed, indicating a potential for flooding and increased levels on waterbodies.
The MVCA cautions that with warmer temperatures expected this week, rapid snowmelt may lead to rising water levels, unsafe ice, and localized flooding.
Customary precautions include testing your sump pump to ensure it’s working and has a backwater valve, clearing and redirecting downspouts at least 3 metres away from your home, and removing snow from catch basins, drains, and culverts.
