What was old is new again, and while it won’t affect the Valley, Alto’s high-speed rail line could impact travel in Eastern Ontario.
An initiative begun in 2022 is finally taking shape.
Alto’s aim is to build the country’s first high-speed rail network that will run at speeds of 300 km/h or more to efficiently connect major cities in the Toronto-Québec City corridor.
The project is a potential job creator, including more than 50,000 jobs during construction.
Alto would generate an annual economic impact of $24.5 billion while potentially removing the equivalent of 100,000 cars from the roads each year.
Curious how the proposed Alto high speed rail line could impact Lanark County?
Public engagement sessions are coming up this Wednesday in Perth, at the Perth Lions Club (50 Arthur St, Perth).
Attend from 11AM to 3PM or 5-9PM.
