Arnprior’s existing Skate Park was constructed in 2002, and refurbished in 2012.
A group now known as the Arnprior Skateboard Association became involved in fundraising for a new Skate Park in 2020, first with a series of 50-50 draws- and then by offering boarding lessons to the community, according to spokesperson Luke Sheldrick.
The community initiative has led to members raising 17.5 thousand for the new park.
Further, one of the ASA members is quite the carpenter.
Sheldrick could barely contain his excitement after the Recreation Department formally shared the design with elected representatives February 9th.
The Arnprior Skateboard Association Facebook page is one location you can check- or the Town of Arnprior Council Information package from February 9th also goes into detail.
Despite the six-plus year wait, Luke Sheldrick is a believer.
No longer will the skate park be hidden away in an obscure corner of the Nick Smith Centre site; the new location will be front and centre.
On February 9th, 2026 Council awarded the tender for Arnprior’s New & Improved Skate Park to Papillon Skate Parc Inc. for a total of $275,000 (plus HST);
Papillon is based in Montreal with over 10 years of experience building interesting skate parks for communities of varying sizes in Quebec and Eastern Ontario.
