There’s likely no better way to honour a beloved member of the Whitewater Sno-Goers.
The local snowmobile group will pack the local trails during the McGregor Madigan Memorial Ride on February 28th, remembering the late son of President Troy Madigan, who had become the group’s smallest helper, according to Vice-President Trevor Stokes.
Stokes and Sno-Goers Director Hillary Belsher say that the choice to remake the group’s annual fundraising event in McGregor’s memory was an easy one for everyone involved, as the group’s volunteers have been busy supporting the Madigan family as they cope with their loss.
Local snowmobilers and other guests will meet that morning at their Cobden warming station, just off of Highway 17 at the intersection of the A Trail and Trail 114, before taking off for a full day of fun along the local pathways with the goal of raising funds for the Madigan’s.
The event will also feature bacon-on-a-bun, a 50-50 draw, and a selection of merch that includes one item Belsher believes ties in perfectly with how eager McGregor was to help the group in any way he could.
The Sno-Goers are committing to keeping McGregor’s heart, spirit, and enthusiasm for snowmobiling alive, not only dedicating part of future fundraising proceeds to causes chosen by his family, but also lending his name to the trails he fell in love with.
Snowmobilers can pre-register via email for $20 each or sign up at the Cobden warming station for $25 that morning between 10:00 and noon.
