It’s not often Eastern Ontario municipalities get to make posts about the Warming Centres they operate, so kudos to Mississippi Mills for its advance preparation.
The Town’s social media proclaims: “Extreme cold is on the way!”
Environment Canada is calling for a blast of frigid temperatures which, with wind chills that could make it feel close to -40.
To help keep everyone safe, the Municipality has four warming centres available for anyone who needs a place to warm up; these are the John Levi Community Centre, the Almonte Branch of the Mississippi Mills Public Library, the Stewart Community Centre and the Pakenham Branch of the Mississippi Mills Public Library.
These spaces offer a warm, safe environment during extreme cold, and the Town encourage residents to check in on neighbours, friends, and family who may need support.
