Keep it close to home, and they will come is the mantra for Winter Recreational activities, according to Lucas Power, the Town’s Programming and Events Supervisor.
Keeping the community fit in Arnprior falls under the umbrella of “Wintermission.”
Power says there are multiple free-skate activities between this coming Friday and the 2nd of January.
The Programming and Events Supervisor says the elbow grease it takes to put up Christmas lights on your premises even counts as an activity.
Lucas says the discreet (but anonymous) judges have this year been replaced by a free and fair ballot by one’s peers.
Another cornerstone activity of Wintermission happens Mondays.
A staple kicks off the Carnival season, with the Optimist Club Winter Carnival in January.
Under the Town’s wing is “FamFest” on the Family Day Holiday Weekend.
Plenty more for Saturday including a local version of Family Feud.
Sunday’s activities shift to Hydro Park East for the day.
Power says Family Day Monday boasts the most.
Mid-weeks this Winter are pretty special as well.
