The Municipality of Mississippi Mills is commemorating Giving Tuesday with the launching of the “Founding Circle Campaign” in support of the Mississippi Mills Community Fund.
This new community endowment will help local charitable activities and programs for generations to come.
The motto is “give where you live”, and the new arms-length body will be administered by the Ottawa Community Foundation.
The goal is an initial $50,000 endowment, and gifts of $100 or any amount will be recognized as part of the Fund’s founding circle of donors.
Donations are invested by the Ottawa Community Foundation, with a portion granted out each year to local charities and community projects, allowing the Fund to grow steadily over time.
Over time, the Fund aims to provide stable, local support for priorities such as children and youth, seniors aging at home, Mental health services, Housing and affordability initiatives, protection of local rivers, trails, and heritage spaces and core funding for charitable partnerships or initiatives.
Monies are spent on the basis of advice from the fund’s advisory council.
