Halloween and Waste Reduction Week don’t overlap- but likely your costume preparations do!
Canadians pitch nearly 500 million kilograms of clothing and textiles every year, meaning about a billion pounds of fabric go to waste.
It almost seems like, by design, new clothing items are intended to last about a week in many cases- but for Halloween, it’soften “one and done”!
It’s no masquerade for the Town of Anrprior, which is encouraging you to particpate in its “Halloween Up-Cycle Challenge”.
Make costumes from materials you already have. Use Up-cycled clothing and material as your starting point.
Post a photo and tag @arnpriorlife or emailing sbaum@arnprior.ca by Nov 1 for a chance to win a recreation prize pack.
Costumes obtained 2nd hand can be submitted as well!
