Arnprior Rivermen are back for the current Hockey Season, but the face- and configuration of Senior Hockey is evolving. The club now falls under the umbrella of the “Northern Premier Hockey League”- which is a story in itself.
Club owner Adrian Moyes says new ownership purchased the Eastern Ontario Super League in 2024, as well as some other Senior circuits during the recent off-season, consolidating them under the NPHL banner.
Add to this, there’s the issue of not yet having home ice to play on.
The Rivermen are going to wait for the Bert Hall renos to be done before lacing up locally.
Adrian says rivals in the new configuration play each other four times in divisional competition.
Somewhere in all of that is also the Manotick Mariners.
Adrian Moyes is confident in the new configuration.
While the calibre of the new league is more professional, the 40 men on the Rivermen roster do it for the love of the game.
Moyes says “buy a season ticket” for unsurpassed value.
The Northern Premier Hockey League is not sanctioned by Hockey Canada, making it what’s termed an “outlaw league”, so at the end of the year, its participants will compete for the “Outlaw Cup”
The Rivermen play the Pontiacs in Shawville Saturday night.
