Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry wants to keep residents attention focused on the Mill of Kintail issue.
She recently presented to the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority, which is consdiering shifting the Mill’s focus to one of a “water museum” and abandoning its function as the home of two significant historical collections- those of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball- and R. Tait McKenzie, artist.
The Mayor asked three things of the MVCA: Press pause on the current process; Commit to meaningful community dialogue; and, re-establish a special advisory committee to explore the best path forward for preserving Dr. McKenzie’s legacy.
The municipality doesn’t decide what’s going to happen in the situation- that’s up to the MVCA Board, so forward your concerns to their attention and let them know how you feel.
