Narcity Canada is pumped on Pakenham; the online publication is going so far as to call the village, “One of Canada’s Prettiest Towns.”
A September 12th article by Madeline Forsyth describes Pakenham as “a small, lesser-known destination located along the Mississippi River in picturesque Lanark County. Here you’ll find cute local shops, old-world streets and river views that feel like they were plucked from a storybook.”
The author of course lauds the Five Span Bridge, “a picturesque landmark that is the only one of its kind in North America. Originally built in 1903 by Scottish Stone Masons”, but also itemizes the 1840s General Store, Cartwright Springs Brewery and Scoops Ice Cream as among attractions worthy of the visit.
She concludes, “With its old-world charm and beautiful surroundings, it’s no surprise locals say Pakenham is one of Canada’s “prettiest” towns to visit.”
