It began as a simple neighbourhood event to help a Ukrainian emigre family get settled in Lanark County.
That’s Olga Ialovenko, president of Ukrainian Fest Lanark County, who says the decision to expand the event was the obvious choice.
So last year’s event became a full-fledged festival, held at Riverside Park in Carleton Place, from 11AM to 6PM in 2024.
The Ukrainian Fest President tells us what to expect this year.
Continuing our tour of the grounds and the events…
There’s a section devoted to commerce.
Olga Ialovenko says there’s one very important change in that the volunteer contingent composition has been expanded.
There’s a point that should be underscored as to who the festival’s target audience is.
Olga says come out- you’re sure to enjoy yourself
This year, the venue is the same- but the hours have been extended to 8PM- and with the recent designation by Carleton Place Town Council of Ukrainian Fest as a “culturally-significant event”, alcohol is now permitted to be served.
Organizers are thus expecting upwards of 4,000 people to attend.
