It’s a big County- the largest in Ontario, in fact.
So it’s not always that successful Summer Company candidates come from Arnprior.
The Summer Company Program supports students aged 15–29 in launching summer businesses by providing training, mentorship, and up to $3,000 in grant funding.
This year, three of the seven Summer Company recipients were from Arnprior.
Emmanuel Young was one of the seven young entrepreneurs, and told Town Council a bit about his business, Manny’s Mowing.
Manny’s business was conducted with a minimal environmental footprint.
Although he was a sole-proprietor, Manny did manage to recruit an employee.
In addition to the practical experienced gained, Manny received mentorship in business practises.
Because of the acumen gained there, Emmanuel was quickly able to turn aside a question from County Councillor Dan Lynch on an off-season expansion possibility.
And of course, the name of the program is “Summer Company”.
