We’re not far away from another Ukrainian Festival in Carleton Place!
The relatively nascent event is quickly gaining fans, and this announcement from the Town of Carleton Place will only help matters.
Officially known as the Lanark County Ukrainian Festival, it first started November 5th, 2023.
It began as a grassroots initiative inspired by a fundraising garage sale organized by Gloria Bradley to support a newly arrived Ukrainian family.
The success of that event led to the creation of a full-fledged cultural festival celebrating Ukrainian heritage, music, food, and community spirit.
The inaugural event was held at the Carleton Place Arena and featured traditional Ukrainian performances, crafts, food, and a strong charitable focus.
This year’s Ukrainian Festival, held in Riverside Park on September 13th, was declared as an event of Municipal Significance, which permits organizers to use a portion of Riverside Park for an outdoor liquor event, as required under the Town’s Municipal Alcohol Policy.
