Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry may have had a busier time at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Ottawa this past week- she’s on the AMO Board.
But that didn’t stop Lowry from button-holing Rob Flack, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, during what’s called the “Bear Pit” session with, what may have been a loaded question.
The Mississippi Mills Mayor essentially wanted to know that, given the box local municipalites find themselves in- being restricted largely to the Property Tax to raise its local revenues- what could he do to help convince his colleagues, it’s time to revist who pays for what locally, and how could AMO help him raise awareness the rethink is needed?
Lowry noted Flack pledged to listen, learn and collaborate on solutions.
