From balcony gardener in a Northeastern Ontario Moonscape to today’s farming experience in Ramsay Township, it’s been quite the journey for Christa McCool.
In addition to raising poultry for egg production, and various species of meat birds, the acerage at Malkob Farm contains orchards- and a forest floor full of mushrooms and medicinal herbs. Although run by others, the property is home to the Wild Child Forest School, and every third Sunday, a Forest Church convenes on the grounds. Cognizant of her role as a settler woman, Christa works together with the Mississippi Mills group, “All My Relations” to enhance Reconciliation and promote a wider understanding of what stewardship of the land entails.
